To start, unarchive the file, configure, and compile the documentation e.g.

	      tar zxf karoo-2008-11-30.tgz
	      cd karoo
	      ./cleanup.sh
	      make docs
	      cd doc/api/latex
	      make pdf
	    

Then view the refman.pdf file...
